DESCRIPTION:This workshop is the first of two on ‘Introduction to Copyrig
 ht’. The first session focuses on copyright considerations in the contex
 t of publishing while the second session focuses on copyright issues in 
 secondary data use.\n\nCopyright is an area of scholarly communications 
 that affects every researcher at some stage of their academic career. En
 gaging with copyright is therefore crucial to any involvement in both pu
 blishing and teaching\, affecting individuals\, and potentially the repu
 tation of the institution.\n\nThe first session will introduce attendees
  to the brief origins of copyright with a focus on copyright considerati
 ons in both publishing and teaching. By the end of the session\, attende
 es will have a better understanding of different terms and licences avai
 lable for publishing in different formats.
