DESCRIPTION:Tóibín was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel award an
 d won the Irish Times Irish Literature prize for first book The South in
  1990\, and his Blackwater Lightship and The Master were shortlisted for
  the Man Booker.  The latter also won the LA Times and Impac book awards
 . His latest book is a collection of short stories\, Mothers and Sons (2
 006). O'Hagan’s first novel Our Fathers was shortlisted for the Man Book
 er and won the Whitbread First Novel award in 1999\, and in 2003 he was 
 nominated as one of Granta magazine’s 'Best of Young British Novelists'.
  He is a contributing editor to the London Review of Books and Granta ma
 gazine\, and his new book is The Atlantic Ocean: Essays on Britain and A
 merica. This reading will be followed by a Q & A session.
