DESCRIPTION:Prerequisites\nSome basic econometric knowledge is required a
 nd participants should be aware of simple cross-sectional concepts such 
 as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS)\, hypothesis testing and prediction. Bas
 ic knowledge of STATA would be advantageous but is not necessary.\n\nOut
 line\nThis course is designed to serve as an introduction to panel data 
 analysis and emphasis will be placed on providing an intuitive explanati
 on of the underlying theory and the practical implementation. The course
  aims to introduce participants to simple linear panel data models with 
 particular emphasis on random- and fixed-effects estimation. In addition
 \, a strong focus will be placed on practical data preparation\, manipul
 ation\, model implementation and interpretation using Stata.\n\nParticip
 ants will go through relevant examples during practical sessions\, which
  include data from the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS). The overal
 l emphasis of this course is on creating a “good practice” when first st
 arting to analyse panel data. Participants can expect to leave the cours
 e feeling confident in their ability to manipulate and analyse complex p
 anel datasets using Stata. Please note that this course looks at large N
  small T type panel data and is not a time series panel data course.\nTh
 is course is aimed at postgraduate students and early researchers who ar
 e likely to encounter panel data in their studies or work. The level of 
 the course is aimed at providing an introduction to panel data analysis 
 and no prior knowledge of panel data techniques is required.\n\nObjectiv

 owing:\n- How to open and explore panel datasets\n- Key procedures for m
 anipulation panel data\n- Estimate and interpret panel data estimators s
 uch as pooled OLS\, random effects and fixed effects\n- Apply relevant d

 ta (BHPS)
