DESCRIPTION:21 June\, 6-9pm. Free\n\nArtReach and Journeys 2018 are hosti
 ng a unique takeover of our gallery. The event celebrates 20 years of Re
 fugee Week with international sounds\, performances and creativity from 
 around the world.\n\nJoin us for a work in progress\, multi artform pres
 entation of ‘Sombre Dreams’ by DIPACT\, a new commission by the Whitwort
 h and ArtReach. DIPACT is a 'Diverse/Digital Innovative Platform for Art
 s\, Communities and Technology/Theatre' for diverse artists from any bac
 kground. Their new work responds to in Isaac Julien’s Ten Thousand Waves
  film installation\, currently on display. DIPACT will also create a fil
 m installation as part of the visual art exhibition.\n\nWe are also prou
 d to welcome Women of Courage\, a group of asylum seekers and refugees t
 o share a new series of monologs\, poetry and fictions they have written
 . ‘Survivors’ has been developed through attending writing and drama wor
 kshops led by Fereshteh Mozaffari in collaboration between Commonword\, 
 RAPAR and Sheba Arts. Fereshteh will also be performing extracts from he
 r one woman show ‘One More Push’.\n\nAs well as this\, you will be able 
 to take part in Manchester City of Sanctuary’s conversation club and cra
 ftivism with Asylum Matters. The evening will conclude with a musical fi
 nale from Manchester International Roots Orchestra with a whirl wind tri
 p around the globe\, featuring a new work for solo Double Bass\, by Mich
 ael Cretu. ‘Dance and Improvisation’ is dedicated to those that lost the
 ir lives in the Morecombe cockle pickers tragedy that inspired Isaac Jul
 ien’s Ten Thousand Waves.
