DESCRIPTION:This seminar will examine what has been termed\, by Rosemary 
 Hunter\, the “implementation effect”. This is the notion that once imple
 mented law reform can have a  range of intended and unintended consequen
 ces. In examining the divergent  approaches taken to reforming the law o
 f provocation in Australia and the UK\, the presentation will consider t
 hree key issues -  (1) the manipulation of alternative categories to hom
 icide post?implementation\,  (2) the continued legal legitimisation of l
 ethal violence post-reform and  (3) the over complication of the law. It
  is argued that in many instances these unintended effects of law reform
  can serve to obscure the original intent of the reforms implemented.\n
