DESCRIPTION:Professor Richard Morris\, OBE presents an illustrated lectur
 e\, ‘Cheshire and the Viking World’\, hosted by The Tabley House Collect
 ion Trust.\n\nAs an archaeologist with strong links to Cheshire he will 
 explain Knutsford's Viking past as part of the celebrations to mark 1\,0
 00 since King Canute's visit to the town.\nAs Knutsford is celebrating 1
 \,000 years of history since Canute famously came to the town and forded
  the River Lily\, as part of ‘Heritage Open Days’ the Knutsford Promenad
 es Community Association and The Tabley House Collection are pleased to 
 present this as a free keynote lecture.\n\n\nProfessor Morris is a highl
 y respected archaeologist\, historian and author. He has worked at a num
 ber of British universities\, including the University of York\, the Uni
 versity of Leeds and the University of Huddersfield\, and has held a num
 ber of significant positions within the British archaeological community
 \, including director of the Council for British Archaeology from 1991-1
 999 and was Commissioner of English Heritage.\n\nHe is currently chair o
 f The Blackden Trust\, a charitable organisation involved in historical 
 and archaeological investigation of Blackden\, the late-medieval home of
  novelist Alan Garner\, in Cheshire.\n\nComplimentary refreshments will 
 be served before the lecture which will start at 6.45pm.
