 ollections and archives in this live\, online event. Join Professor Mich
 ael Wood OBE\, to explore surprising histories of diversity\, commerce a
 nd sciences. Bringing together community groups\, curators and researche
 rs\, this event places new research with Chinese collections at the fore
 front and asks about the impact of their renewed study. Includes live Q&
 A.\n\nProfessor Michael Wood OBE was appointed Professor of Public Histo
 ry at The University of Manchester in 2013. He is a broadcaster and auth
 or\, presenting documentaries on everything from China to Shakespeare ov
 er the last few decades.\n\nProfessor Yang-Wen Zheng joined the Universi
 ty of Manchester in 2007 and is Professor of Chinese History. She is the
  editor (with Richard Madsen of UC San Diego) of the "Alternative Sinolo
 gy" series published by Manchester University Press and an editorial boa
 rd member for Modern Asian Studies and for the Journal of Social and Eco
 nomic History of the Orient.\n\nProfessor Peter Gries joined the Univers
 ity of Manchester as Professor of Chinese Politics in August 2017. In De
 cember 2017 he became the Lee Kai Hung Chair and founding Director of th
