DESCRIPTION:How fashion manufacturers and retailers react on an ageing so
ciety in China\n\nAccessing the Chinese consumer involves understanding
the unique platforms and drivers of purchases. Over the next decade\, ap
proximately two-thirds of all retail spending growth in the UK is predic
ted to come from people aged over 55. At the same time\, ‘new older gene
rations’ in China who are seen as open-minded and less traditional as we
ll as more financially stable will substantially increase in the next de
cade. Recently there has been a notable change in how the older populati
on is considered in the traditionally youth-focused fashion industry\, a
lthough many fashion companies and retailers are still uncertain about w
hether their strategies fit. \n\nThis talk will provide a comprehensive
understanding of the fashion preferences and consumer behaviour in relat
ion to the older Chinese consumer group. Come along to understand what t
his could mean for you and your organization and how to tailor your busi
ness strategies to embrace the huge potential market in China. \n\nMinzh
i Zhang is a doctoral candidate researcher at The University of Manchest
er with 10 years’ experience in the fashion industry (Adidas\, Louis Vui
 tton\, Burberry\, and China Textile News). \n
