 \nTitle: A random walk through outcomes based research for healthcare\n 
 \nAbstract: Randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews of trial
 s examine evidence of safety\, efficacy and cost effectiveness of interv
 entions to provide guidance and recommendations to support decisions abo
 ut treatment.  Such evidence-based decisions rely on an unbiased summary
  of the study results.  However\, research has shown that there are a se
 ries of biases that may affect the validity of the medical literature.  
  This talk will take the audience on a journey through some of these iss
 ues\, with Jamie as the guide on a random walk through the evidence. We 
 will explore some of the empirical evidence of the biases that exist\, a
 nd the potential statistical and non-statistical solutions to these prob
 lems.\n
