DESCRIPTION:Blood cancer: Immunology’s ‘dark web’\n\nBiography:\nI am a S
 enior Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University and Consultant Haematolo
 gist at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care.  My current MRC Clinician S
 cientist Fellowship focuses on the transcriptional characterisation of A
 cute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. My team and collaborative network use sing
 le cell and spatial transcriptomics to understand a range of high-risk b
 lood/ lymphoid cancers. Following on from my doctoral training in immuno
 logy\, I am particularly interested in the parallel between normally fun
 ctioning immune cells (the surface web)\, and malignant blood/ lymphoid 
 cells (the dark web)\, detailing how mutations and tissue context permit
  malignant cells to adopt certain phenotypes. \n\n
