DESCRIPTION:Join us for this PSI seminar with guest speaker Prof. Eva Ren
tschler. Metallacrown Complexes (MCs) are composed of metal ions and bri
dging ligands that form cyclic ring structures in a self-assembly reacti
on. These complexes have been extensively studied in the past years for
their coordination ability with hydroxamic acid and derivatives\, partic
ularly with first-row transition metal ions. The atomic arrangement in M
Cs allows for adjustable magnetic exchange between the metal ions within
the ring structure. By employing the magnetic director approach\, high
spin ground states in MCs have already been achieved. The most important
requirement for switchable SMMs\, however\, is anisotropy. Prof. Rentsc
hler therefore aimed to implement metal ions able to contribute signific
antly with high single ion anisotropy. In this presentation\, Prof Rents
chler will discuss their approach\, which involves enhancing the overall
magnetic anisotropy by incorporating lanthanide ions in 3d-4f-metallacr
owns. These systems exhibit SMM behavior and hold promise for future app
lications in data storage\, quantum computers\, and molecular electronic
 s\, as discussed in physics\, chemistry\, and materials science.\n\n\n\n
