  B-neuro team (www.b-neuro.com)\; my research is focused around the util
 isation of preclinical models (pharmacological/non-pharmacological/genet
 ic) to investigate the behvioural\, neurochemical and pathological chang
 es involved in the aetiology and treatment of neuropsychiatric (e.g. sch
 izophrenia) and neurodegenerative (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease) disorders.\
 n\nAs a group we have extensive experience in behaviour\, with a strong 
 focus on cognition. We also have a lot of experience in neurochemical st
 udies in awake animals (e.g. in vivo microdialysis studies) and conduct 
 a lot of post-mortem analysis (e.g. HPLC\, qPCR and immunohistochemistry
 ).\n\nToday’s presentation will give an overview of some of our work whe
 re we have utilised preclinical models to assess cognitive deficits of r
 elevance to schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. I will also discuss s
 ome of the underlying pathology in these models\, focusing on the correl
 ates with clinical findings and give examples of how we utilise these mo
 dels to provide a testing platform for novel therapeutic strategies.\n\n

 hemistry\, Materials Science\, Pharmacology etc)\; in addition\, there m
 ay well be a disease focus which would fit with the broad interests of F
 MHS. Thus the MPS Seminar Series is likely to of interest to staff and s
