DESCRIPTION:The practicalities of selecting and navigating particular con
 texts remain difficult despite the recent focus across the social scienc
 es on situating one’s research. The reconfiguring of local spaces to sit
 es of research is particularly relevant now\, as the internet and new me
 dia blur previously taken-for-granted boundaries and processes of locali
 sation.\n\nThis conference seeks to engage researchers across the social
  sciences and humanities to discuss the role of spaces and places in the
 ir work within the larger context of the ‘spatial turn’. In particular\,
  we are interested in discussing the ways in which methodologies are con
 textualised to tackle both new spaces and ‘old’ spaces in the flux of ch
 ange. However\, we are also attentive to the interaction between researc
 hers and the larger community regarding those spaces: from public policy
  development that is contextually bound to the impact of business models
  in the alteration of spaces and creation of places.\n\nThe conference w
 ill take place at the University of Manchester on 15 June 2018. It is an
  all-day event which will feature both academic papers and public events
  including a round table with community members\, a public screening\, a
 nd an exhibition. Attendance is free.\n\nSubmission deadline: 26 March 2
