DESCRIPTION:Coevolution in Economic Systems\n\nProf. Dr. Francisco Fatas-
Villafranca\, economist at the University of Zaragoza (Spain)\, will be
discussing current developments in the coevolution of economic systems.\
n\nCoevolution in economic systems plays a key role in the dynamics of c
ontemporary societies. Coevolution operates when\, considering several e
volving realms within a socioeconomic system\, these realms mutually sha
pe their respective innovation\, replication and/or selection processes.
The processes that emerge from coevolution should be analyzed as being
globally codetermined in dynamic terms. The notion of coevolution appear
s in the literature on modern innovation economics since the neo-Schumpe
terian inception four decades ago. In this Element\, these antecedents a
re drawn on to formally clarify and develop how the coevolution notion c
an expand the analytical and methodological scope of evolutionary econom
ics\, allowing for further unification and advance of evolutionary subfi
elds.\n\nThe seminar will be oriented towards these following developmen
ts: (1) Applications of the coevolution notion to regional economics and
multisectoral growth\; (2) Coevolution of institutions and technology a
ffecting innovation\, evolutionary political economy (polarization in po
litics and geopolitical confrontations)\, and industrial dynamics\; (3)
Coevolution in the realm of user innovation studies.\n\nAbout Prof. Dr.
