  understand contemporary conflicts?’ \n\nProfessor Callinicos is a polit
 ical theorist and activist\; he holds a chair of European Studies at the
  King's College London. He has published more than thirty monographs on 
 Marx\, contemporary political philosophy and critical theory\, historiog
 raphy\, international political economy. Among his latest books are: Bon
