'About the event:
Psychotic illness is characterised by auditory hallucinations and delusions. The contemporary view of their origin suggests difficulties in perceptual processing and subsequent faulty interpretation of perceptual inputs, mediated by dopaminergic overactivity. However, the precise nature of these deficits, and their instantiation in the brain remain unclear. This talk describes one approach to improving our understanding of these symptoms through testing cognitive models using psychophysics and functional brain imaging, based on our recent publications.
