Featuring Rozanna Madylus (mezzo soprano) and Michelle Assay (piano), ‘Full of Eastern Promise’ is a celebration of East-West cultural encounters through music and poetry. The concert includes ‘orientalist’ art songs, in particular musical responses to 14th century Persian poet Hafez by Brahms, Rubinstein and Glière.
It also features the world premiere of a piano solo piece by Manchester-based Iranian composer, Atefeh Einali, and a selection of Ukrainian folk songs. This concert is supported by the Royal Musical Association.
