This session looks at the potential for critical discourse analysis as a research approach. The session will consider the theoretical underpinnings of CDA approaches and also seek to illustrate some of the conceptual resources developed from this perspective. In particular, it considers a practical pedagogical, analytical and heuristic tool for the critical analysis of texts developed from a CDA based research project and offers participants the opportunity to reflect on the ways in which the critical analysis of text/discourses might be of value to the Educational Researcher and to their own future research contexts.
