Dr Emma Chapman - Preventing & Tackling Sexual Misconduct: Lessons Learned
The Department of Physics & Astronomy welcomes Dr Emma Chapman for our February Colloquium.
There are many obstacles in the way of navigating the academic world successfully. This is true for anyone, but even more so for those facing harassment, bullying and discrimination.
Dr Chapman has worked to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to progress through academia, and that the culture they find is supportive and safe. In particular, Emma was a member of The 1752 Group for 5 years, a campaigning group highlighting the issue of sexual misconduct in higher education, and writing policy for a fair complaints system.
Emma will discuss her experience of campaigning, with a focus on the techniques and solutions that are useful to make change, including eating cake.
