Title: The mod-3 cohomology of a Sylow-3-subgroup of SL_2(Z/3^nZ)
Abstract: The cohomology of matrix groups with entries in fields has been well studied. However, SL_2(Z/p^nZ), p-prime, n>1, has entries in finite rings and commonly used methods to find their cohomology fail. In this talk I will present a way of computing the mod p cohomology via the Sylow-p-subgroups Syl_p(n) and show H^*(Syl_3(n), F_3) as a worked example. I will conclude with some remarks about primes not equal to 3 and GL_2.
