Striking connections: Tales of ties and affinities in the 21st Century
This Morgan Centre event explores contemporary sentiments of connectedness and affinity. It brings together scholars whose work in a variety of ways shows light on the meaning of being and feeling connected, in order to explore ties that matter, and how they matter, in everyday life. A striking experience of connectedness, even chemistry, is often associated with the sphere of the family and intimate relationships.
With keynote presentations by Deborah Dempsey (Associate Professor in Sociology at Australia's Swinburne University of Technology) and Jennifer Mason (Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester's Morgan Centre), and further contributions from Andy Balmer, Leah Gilman, Brian Heaphy, Vanessa May and Petra Nordqvist also from the Morgan Centre.
From the Morgan Centre website you can access the full programme and the abstracts of each presentation.
