DESCRIPTION:In September 2015 the United Nations General Assembly will ag
ree a new set of global development goals to replace the Millennium Deve
lopment Goals (2000-2015). These Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) wi
ll be universal (all countries in the world should pursue them) and will
seek to integrate social justice\, economic growth and environmental su
stainability. They will be the world’s biggest promise. But\, after the
rousing speeches by world leaders in September have finished\, will the
SDGs make a difference and foster social\, economic\, political and tech
nological innovations…or will business as usual be the outcome? \n\nThis
seminar brings together the insights of two analysts directly involved
in the negotiation processes and two academic observers. It will explore
the past and present processes that have shaped the SDG Agenda (especia
lly the contrasting positions taken by different groups of countries and
key players) and the anticipated implications of the SDGs for economic\
, social and political systems. \n\nAbout the panellists\n•	Neva Frechev
