DESCRIPTION:While most of the literature on global innovation networks ha
 s focused on the internationalization of R&D by multinational companies 
 and their interactions with local firms in host locations\, \nthis semin
 ar will discuss how universities participate in the development global i
 nnovation network. First\, It is important to consider how multination c
 ompanies \ncollaborate in innovation with local universities in the coun
 tries where they offshore their R&D activities. Moreover\, universities 
 themselves are also increasingly locating new\n R&D centres overseas and
  several counties have launched new policy programs  to develop  researc
 h centres  of excellence through the attraction  of foreign universities
  and public research institutes. \nThis seminar will focus on discussing
  the implications of these trends for universities and for public polici
 es.
