DESCRIPTION:Sequence analysis has recently experienced increasing interes
 t in life course research and summarizes a variety of techniques to anal
 yse whole "sequences"\, for example\, employment or partnership historie
 s. The interest\, hereby\, is not only to describe and visualize whole s
 equences\, but also to compare and regroup similar sequences into cluste
 rs\, which in turn can be used within other methods (e.g. as independent
  variable in regression analyses). The course provides a basic introduct
 ion into sequence analysis\, including its theoretical implication withi
 n life course research\, and the practical skills required to conduct se
 quences analysis with STATA.\n\nCourse objectives:\nThe course has two o
 bjectives:\nFirst\, the course introduces the general theoretical idea o
 f sequences analysis and illustrates which kind of questions can be inve
 stigated by its mean within life course research.\nSecond\, the course p
 rovides a practical introduction into sequence analysis based on STATA\,
  focussing on describing and visualizing sequences and on methods to reg
 roup sequences into clusters.\n\nPrerequisites:\nParticipants should be 
 interested in life course research and have experience in handling longi
