DESCRIPTION:EmpoderaData\, from the Spanish word empoderar for “to empowe
 r”\, builds upon the success of the Q-Step program. Q-Step\, for “Quanti
 tative Step-change”\, was developed as a strategic response to the short
 age of quantitatively-skilled social science graduates in the United Kin
 gdom. The University of Manchester (UoM) is one of 15 centres that took 
 part in a £19.5 million program designed to promote a step-change in qua
 ntitative social science training. One of the core pillars of the UoM Q-
 Step Centre was to train undergraduates to do data analysis by enabling 
 them to practice their data skills in the workplace.\n\nIn this free wor
 kshop the University of Manchester (UoM) together with Data-Pop Alliance
  (DPA) will expand upon the project findings\, exploring this model in t
 he Global South through the “EmpoderaData Project”. Three pilot countrie
 s - Brasil\, Colombia and Mexico\, were included. The project aims to pr
 omote a virtuous cycle of social transformation by fostering data litera
 cy skills applied to addressing our society’s most pressing issues throu
