DESCRIPTION:All science and engineering subjects have some practical teac
 hing aspects. These elements have the opportunity to help students engag
 e and understand the subject matter more than any other. This interactiv
 e workshop aims to disseminate current practice in this area and to disc
 uss challenges faced by academics aiming to continuously improve their p
 ractice. A number of examples of innovative practices from a range of in
 stitutions will be presented throughout the day. The workshop will also 
 involve hands-on focus group work\, enabling individuals to discuss area
 s of best practice and compare approaches with different institutions.\n
 \nFollowing on from the successful event in 2017\, this event is aimed a
 t anyone with an interest in improving their knowledge on practical teac
 hing and thus improving student learning experience. Students (both unde
 rgraduate and postgraduate students involved in practical teaching) are 
 welcome to provide an informed discussion on teaching effectiveness.\n\n
