Join us for this PSI seminar with guest speaker Dr. Zach Ridgway. Scientific papers may have a rigidly defined structure and can be largely considered “artless prose,” but there’s still room to tell a compelling story that clearly communicates the science. The abstract presents a unique opportunity to engage readers and generate interest in your work. This presentation will cover ideas and examples of how to compose an abstract that communicates effectively and helps your work get discovered by researchers. The process of peer review will also be discussed, from the perspective of the editor, author, and reviewer. The presentation will offer ideas about how to navigate reviewer responses and improve your own skills as a reviewer.

Dr. Zach Ridgway
Organisation: American Institute of Physics Publishing
Biography: Zack is an Associate Editor for Applied Physics Reviews (APR) and Biophysics Reviews (BPR) at AIP Publishing. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stony Brook University in 2019. During his doctoral studies, he practiced his skills in scientific communication through the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University. His research background includes peptide-membrane interactions, protein folding, and protein aggregation in human disease.
