You are invited to attend Caroline Bithell's professorial inaugural lecture.
The title of the lecture is: "Bridges and Brokers: Musical Renaissance and the Politics of Heritage in Post-Soviet Georgia"
This lecture will examine musical activity and cultural politics in Georgia (Caucasus), with reference to current issues in revival studies, heritage management and cultural tourism.
The talk will be illustrated with video footage of a range of performing ensembles whose presentation of heritage music and dance can be read in diverse ways.
