DESCRIPTION:The international online symposium has been designed in colla
boration with brilliant partner organisations\, institutions\, and exper
ts\, and aims to amplify the experiences of young people across Europe d
uring (and after) times of austerity. There will be several hybrid hubs
across Europe with collective screening of the event.\n\nWe begin the da
y with an intention-setting session led by Will Medd\, followed by a bri
ef introduction to the Austerity and Altered Life-Courses project\, incl
uding its aims\, findings\, and pledges. After this\, there will be four
parallel slots which include varied sessions which address the symposiu
m theme\, exploring how research can be conducted and shared in collabor
ative\, creative\, and thoughtful ways. This includes discussions about
feminist archiving\, play and theatre in qualitative research\, digital
zine making with Inspire Women\, and lightning talks with early career r
esearchers about their work with young people in the context of austerit
y.\n\nEach of the central online sessions are 70 minutes long (with the
closing session scheduled for 30 minutes) and take place between 09:00-1
7:30 (BST) and 10:00-18:30 (CET)\, with regular breaks and time for refl
ection in between. The symposium comes to a close with a discussion and
reflective postcard activity\, facilitated by the AALC team\, focused on
our shared hopes and plans for the future. You can come to as many of t
he sessions as you like\, attendance for the full day is optional.\n\nTh
e online central hub (1 and 2) sessions will be conducted in English\, w
ith Zoom offering a translation service as part of the software. Zoom li
nks for both Central Hub 1 and 2 will be provided to participants in adv
 ance once registered.\n\nPlease contact poppy.budworth@manchester.ac.uk
if you have any questions related to the central online symposium or the
Manchester hub. If we can make this event more accessible for you\, ple
 ase contact Poppy.
