This early evening event offers an opportunity to meet curators and Library specialists to explore innovative teaching practice and discuss how Special Collections can enrich teaching and learning. There will be introductions to the University’s digital collections, widening participation and our new Virtual Teaching Space. This in-person event will also feature speakers and case studies from tutors across the University and Special Collections staff, who will be sharing their experiences of using the collections for teaching and learning.
Confirmed academic speakers so far are: Josh Brown (Music), Andrew Fearnley (American Studies), Jack Webb (History), Tom Donnai (Education), Anne Kirkham (Art history). Full programme to follow.
The University of Manchester Library’s Special Collections span five millennia across topics from Gilgamesh to Ginsberg; they form an astonishingly rich resource of rare books, pamphlets, manuscripts, maps, archives, oral history, art works and objects. Teaching Staff at the University of Manchester have unique opportunities to enhance undergraduate and graduate level teaching and learning using our diverse range of physical and digital resources. Our expert Special Collections staff can provide bespoke advice on embedding Special Collections content.
The evening will end with networking opportunities over wine and cheese.
