The 'Inclusivity in Researcher Travel' project, funded by the Wellcome Trust through the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Innovation Scheme, seeks to delve into inherent challenges to international researcher travel, and come up with innovative solutions for the University on how to aid international PGR students on research-related travel outside the UK.

• Have you ever felt there was inadequate guidance on University and external websites on how international students can apply for visas from the UK to attend conferences, workshops and other engagements outside the UK?

• Are you uncertain as to the availability of a University support team on hand for visa and immigration support and/or advice for students traveling outside the UK for research purposes?

• Do you sometimes feel your team members/colleagues are less understanding of the difficulties faced by foreign nationals in attaining visas, sometimes evidenced in planning of mandatory/non-mandatory engagements and conference attendances?

• Have you had or do you anticipate to have difficulty securing visa appointment dates or frustrations with the responsiveness of visa application centres?

• Have you ever felt anxiety, depression, stress and feelings of being unwanted due to challenges of visa and immigration process, including fears of rejection, financial burden etc.

• Have you had delays in processing funds where funding support is provided for research travel.

• Have you not encountered any of the above but feel something must be done about these?

Then join us on 8 February 2023 from 10am - 12pm in our second online seminar as part of the project.

With our team of experts, our second seminar will involve discussions on why these challenges occur and how best we can leverage the University's support in addressing them.

Additionally, you will be given a £15 Amazon voucher as appreciation for your time and contribution at the seminar.
