DESCRIPTION:There are increasing concerns about the health and wellbeing
of children and adolescents because of the potential for poor lifestyle
and life experiences to impact on their potential to achieve healthy and
happy adult lives\, and avoid chronic physical and mental health issues
. Schools have therefore increasingly become charged with a key role in
promoting child health and wellbeing\, and so the need for expertise in
school based research to provide information on ‘what works’ is spirall
ing. \n\nThe Manchester Institute of Education is actively in child hea
lth and wellbeing research. On Monday 2nd February 2015 they will prese
nt a selection of findings from a range of recent projects and share exp
eriences of conducting research with and in schools. Professor Alan Dyso
n will give a keynote lecture on child health inequalities arising from
his involvement in the Marmot report and four studies on child wellbeing
and the role of schools will be shared. A further keynote on the impor
tance of researching the implementation of interventions will be given b
y Dr Ann Lendrum\, followed by three presentations on research practice
with school settings\, including conducting RCTs with schools\, research
ing children and working with teachers in school settings. A final disc
ussion will explore the opportunities for funding and collaboration in r
elation to research aiming to promote child health and wellbeing in scho
ol settings.\n\nHosted by the Child Health Research Network
