ulation and Growth Paths of Fintech Ventures\n \nAbstract: Resource accu
mulation is a crucial strategic issue for new ventures\, not least becau
se they start with few resources. Yet\, although prior literature has po
inted to the diversity of resource types and resource configurations ope
n to new ventures\, few studies have examined how entrepreneurs prioriti
ze between different resources that are crucial for venture growth. Base
d on a multiple-case qualitative study of ten new ventures (i.e. fintech
 s) in the banking sector\, we show the trade-off choices implicated in r
esource accumulation strategies and the impacts of these choices on vent
ure growth over time. Our findings advance theory on the resource-based
view in strategic management by introducing the importance of sequencing
in resource accumulation for new ventures\, highlighting the trade-off
decisions facing new ventures\, the consequences of interdependence betw
een different types of resources for venture growth and more broadly\, a
dvancing our understanding of entrepreneurship in regulated markets. \n\
