7\n\nOverview\n\nThis online workshop will cover the fundamental aspects
of statistical computing with R. The workshop will commence with a shor
t lecture on the principles of statistical computing with R and its bene
fits\, particularly when using powerful R packages such as the tidyverse
package. \nFollowing the lecture\, the session will continue in a live-
demonstration format which will take the participant throughout the stag
es required to prepare data for inferential statistical analysis\, prima
rily using the tidyverse package.\n\nThis online workshop will consist o
f a short lecture and will run in a live-demonstration format at a pace
which will allow participants to follow along as well as ask questions.
The workshop will run for 3 hours and will consist of the introductory l
ecture\, followed by installation and overview of R and RStudio user int
 erface\, basic R syntax and packages\, data import\, wrangling\, explora
tion and visualisation. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask que
stions and get clarification during - and in between - each theme. The c
ourse will end with common error messages troubleshooting and ultimately
 \, a final session of Q&As and discussions.\n\n\nTarget audience\n\nThe
workshop is designed for: \n(1) beginners with little or no knowledge of
R and RStudio.\n(2) users with more experience who wish to familiarise
 themselves with the tidyverse package.\n\n\nRequirements\n\nInstallation
instructions for R and R Studio will be sent to the participants prior
to the workshop and it is highly recommended that participants have R an
d R Studio ready to run in advance. The workshop materials will also be
made available in advance to allow participants to practice the R code i
n their own time after the workshop has ended.\n\n\nAbout the instructor
\n\nDr Ioana Macoveciuc is a Lecturer in Social Statistics at the Univer
sity of Manchester as well as a member of the Chartered Society of Foren
sic Sciences and the Royal Statistical Society. You can read more about
