First performance of the new grotesque and witty pieces by composer and double-bassist Valentina Ciardelli - who dedicated two movements to the Waldstein Trio, alongside Shostakovich’s powerful Piano Trio no.2 written during WWII and dedicated to the memory of a dear friend who left early.

The Thursday lunchtime concerts are part of the Walter Carroll Lunchtime Concert Series, which is supported by the Ida Carroll Trust. They provide a wide-ranging programme to suit all tastes and are an ideal opportunity to enjoy great music performed by outstanding musicians.
