  Respiratory Medicine\,\nLead Clinical Scientist the Royal Brompton Hosp
 ital \n'Motile cilia dysfunction in chronic lung disease: a moving story
 '\n\nDr Amelia Shoemark completed her PhD at Imperial College London in 
 2010. She is Lead Clinical Scientist at the Royal Brompton Hospital for 
 the diagnosis of primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). Her translational res
 earch interests\, funded by the NIHR\, brought new diagnostic tests for 
 PCD with improved sensitivity. These include the development of a clinic
 ally validated panel of immunofluorescent antibodies\, development of 3D
  electron microscopy and\, with collaborators\, the identification of mo
 re than 10 of the genes now known to cause PCD. Recently\, Dr Shoemark j
 oined the University of Dundee to conduct research into bronchiectasis\,
  supported by the British Lung Foundation.\n\nHer talk will discuss adva
 nced diagnostic investigations for the inherited condition primary cilia
 ry dyskinesia and the application of these to other chronic respiratory 
 diseases\n
