The second seminar in the ‘Celebrating Research Success in FLS’ series will be given by Professor Nigel Scrutton, who is a member of the Biotechnology & Synthetic Biology (BSB) Research Theme, and Director of the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB). The seminar will take place on Friday 6 February, 3-4pm, in Michael Smith Lecture Theatre. The presentation, entitled 'Making Molecules the MIB Way', will track key developments in the synthesis of small molecules from basic knowledge of enzyme systems, to recent examples in the field of biocatalysis and ultimately to the application of synthetic biology methodology in the BBSRS/ESPRC Centre for Synthetic Biology of Fine and Speciality Chemicals. The approach will draw on recent publications from the Scrutton group.
