The Future of Europe: an EU that empowers and protects
The Manachester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Annual Lecture 2018/19
One of the European Commission’s most senior officials, Mr. Margaritis Schinas, is visiting the University of Manchester to discuss the future challenges of the European Union, including Brexit, immigration and the reform of the EU’s governance structures.
Mr. Schinas is the Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission and one of the closest associates of the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Junker. Schinas is also the Deputy Head of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Communication.
The Director of the JMCE, Prof. Dimitris Papadimitriou, will chair the event. He said “with so much uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the future of the EU, the presence of such a high profile speaker in our University provides an excellent opportunity for debate and engagement from both our students and staff”.
Following the lecture, Mr Schinas will be taking questions from the audience.
- The event is free and open to all, but registration is essential***
