Urban security in Europe has been propelled up the political agenda by a series of terrorist incidents over the past decade. This can be seen in the broader context of transnational threats which also emphasise city regions as the key targets of other problems of crime, security and disorder.
This talk draws on our collaborative and deliberative empirical research into the current realities of urban security in Europe before going on to explore how we can use key intellectual traditions in sociological thought to inform thinking about the possible future scenarios for urban security.
