This is a course on the New Academics and Fellows programme However, those outside of this programme may attend if they feel this would be beneficial to them and are welcome to register.

This workshop will provide an introduction to the support, services and expertise available to you as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Manchester. The University of Manchester Library is recognised as sector-leading in its approach to student support and its commitment to enabling research which has impact both within and beyond academia.

It also houses the world-class John Rylands Research Institute and Special Collections, facilitating connections to unique and important materials for UoM staff and students.

Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Explore the resources, expertise and support that can be used to enhance your teaching and curriculum development: including the Library's My Learning Essentials support programme, the e-platform KorText and our reading list service.
  • Look at and trial Library support throughout the research lifecycle, including new tools that incorporate AI to enhance search and evaluation of research in your area.
  • View selected materials from our Special Collections and explore ways they can be incorporated into your teaching and research.

The workshop will be held on campus in University Place - 2.220
