This free half day workshop with lunch will help you to understand the importance of social impact and help you to evidence your impact. Social impact has been described as ‘the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to society and the economy‘ ESRC.
The workshop is open to all University of Manchester academic/research staff working with social science research; and PSS staff with an interest in social impact. The session will cover
• What is social impact? - explore the social landscape, common definitions.
• Why do I need to know about social impact? - what is expected of researchers by funders
• Who do I need to work with? - finding stakeholders and partners.
• How can I evidence social impact? - writing an impact plan.
