 ndas and it is rare that new demands - including measures to promote gen
 der equality – grab the attention of decision makers. Nevertheless there
  is evidence that over time a range of gender equality issues have manag
 ed to find their way onto government agendas across Western European sta
 tes.  \nThis roundtable combines some recent prize-winning research by C
 laire Annesley and Francesca Gains on when gender equality demands get g
 overnment attention with the experience and expertise of two policy insi
 ders: Kate Green MP for Stretford and Urmston and shadow equalities mini
 ster and Patrick Diamond\, a special advisor under New Labour. \nThe for
 mat of this session will be a brief research presentation followed by a 
 roundtable discussion with invited questions from the floor. \n
