DESCRIPTION:Exploring Caves through Art\nThurs 9 May 6-8.30pm\nCaves are
an integral part of the British landscape\; however they don’t necessari
ly spring to mind when thinking about natural heritage. \nThe majority o
f our daily life is lived above ground\, while entire worlds beneath our
feet silently wait to be explored. \nTo descend into a cave means to se
e the rock from within\; to cross the threshold and enter a place\, whic
h natural light does not penetrate. There\, you will encounter streams\,
  waterfalls\, zigzagging passages\, mud of diverse consistency\, tight p
laces\, and canyons taller than a head torch can reach.\nJoin us in the
Manchester Museum\, where you will find drawings made on location (under
ground and over ground) which explore the human interaction with caves o
f the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales.\nTo get a taste of the undergro
und environment\, you will be able to listen to cave sounds and take par
t in a task responding to them.\nThis is a work-in-progress event by Dom
inika Wroblewska\, who is working on a book hoping to prompt your curios
ity about caves - hidden containers of space where deep geological time
 and our present time interact.\nhttps://www.domeeart.com/a-crawl-thru-ca
