DESCRIPTION:The University of Manchester Gateway Programme provides a new
  opportunity for Year 7-11 learners within Greater Manchester to partici
 pate in a coherent series of academic enrichment and Higher Education aw
 areness activities\nThe Y7 University Uncovered Visit is a generic intro
 duction to university with subject-specific taster sessions offered in o
 ne of the three subject areas: \n•	Science\, Technology\, Engineering & 
 Maths (STEM) \n•	Medical\, Human and Biological Sciences \n•	Humanities.
 \nStudents will be taken on a behind-the-scenes campus tour of our Oxfor
 d Road Campus\, to include the John Rylands University Library\, the Whi
 tworth Hall and John Owens Quadrangle\, a lecture theatre & seminar room
 \, the Students' Union and the Refectory. Students will then take part i
 n a 2 hour session designed to introduce students to some of the subject
 s that can be studied at university and tests their current knowledge an
 d their problem-solving and team-working skills.\n
