DESCRIPTION:Recent corporate scandals and the response of some corporatio
 ns to the pandemic have brought attention back to the role of auditing i
 n restoring trust to business. The government has submitted proposals ai
 ming at strengthening corporate governance for major UK companies and re
 forming the way they are audited.\nThe expressed key objectives of the p
 roposed reforms are to restore public trust to business\, ensure respons
 ible corporate governance\, empower stakeholders and keep the UK legal f
 ramework at the forefront of international best practice.\n\nThis event 
 brings together two academic experts in the areas of auditing and corpor
 ate governance from Alliance Manchester Business School and a Manchester
 -based partner and London-based director from auditing and consulting fi
 rm PwC. They will present their views on the proposals\, the current sta
 te and future of the auditing process and profession as well as the impl
 ications to the UK corporate governance framework from Environmental\, S
 ocial and Governance (ESG) considerations. Participants will have the op
 portunity to ask their questions in what promises to be a lively and int
 eresting Q&A session.
