Three faces of communism: On the relation between people and objects in a contemporary Romanian museum
My primary research interests are socialist and post-socialist practices of state and non-state actors, shifting regimes of value and the objectification of people in moments of abrupt spatial and political change. My doctoral thesis entitled Art, Politics and the Museum : Tales of Continuity and Rupture in Modern Romania, discusses markers of continuity and change at the beginning and end of communism. This research was followed by a self-funded post-doctoral research in Italy, in the region of Apulgia. It dealt with migrant women working as badante (carers for old people) in Italian families. Through this research focused mainly on care and social reproduction, I would like to expand the use and analysis of images and material artefacts in order to ensure dialogue between those addressing material culture, on the one hand, and the field of health / studies / economics anthropology, on the other.
