DESCRIPTION:MANTIS (Manchester Theatre in Sound) biannually presents conc
 erts of music and sound\, featuring compositions and performances enhanc
 ed by the use of new technology and digital media. MANTIS combines a bro
 ad array of sonic events\, which range from the live diffusion of acousm
 atic works on a 48-loudspeaker sound system (using the unique MANTIS Sys
 tem)\, to Live Instrumental and Electronics events involving large ensem
 ble groups on stage (the MANTIS Battle of Gestures and Textures for voic
 e\, acoustic instruments and electronics). =============================

 ECT MANTIS Sonic Meta-ontology encapsulates a number or newly created co
 mpositions\, sonic events and ambisonics field recording trips across th
 e City of Manchester and the North West. 'Manchester's Sonic Meta-ontolo
 gy' will explore whether there is really such thing as a 'Manchester sou
 nd' and if so\, what is it\, can we experience it\, and can we understan
 d it? Substantive empirical investigation will be in partnership will lo
 cal agents and artists in the region\, which will look into the creation
 \, identity\, and survival of the real truth of Manchester's Sound.\n\n
