DESCRIPTION:Our immune system is crucial in protecting us from infection\
 , but must be tightly regulated to prevent harmful immune responses agai
 nst our own tissues. Failure in such regulation can lead to inflammatory
  diseases such as multiple sclerosis\, rheumatoid arthritis and inflamma
 tory bowel disease We will discuss our recent work identifying a novel p
 athway that controls inflammatory immune responses\, which involves acti
 vation of the cytokine TGF-beta by a specialised subset of T-cells calle
 d regulatory T-cells. Our findings have uncovered novel potential therap
 eutic targets for the control of T-cell-mediated tissue damage in devast
 ating inflammatory disorders.\n\n\n\n\n
