This presentation will be based on creative work that was done as part of my PhD research.
The work, which engaged students in a secondary school SEN unit, was based around arts and crafts, drama, photography and comics. While originally these methods were intended as a tool to support students with language and communication difficulties to discuss issues, I will explore in this presentation the possibilities of creative methods in engaging with a wide range of participants and audience.
In particular I will attend to the ways in which using different medias has allowed for different kind of knowledge and issues to come to light and be represented. I will also explore how the use of creative worked allowed participants to express complex and original ideas that go beyond the limits of studying current provision.
