This year’s Manchester International Peace Lecture will be given by Professor Sari Hanafi and will be on the topic of “Societal Polarization and Academic Freedom in the Time of Symbolic Liberalism”. Professor Hanafi is Director of the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies and Chair of the Islamic Studies program at the American University of Beirut. He has published widely on the Arab world, was from 2018-2023 President of the International Sociological Association and is a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy.
Professor Hanafi’s lecture will take place on Thursday 25 April at 4:00 pm in Mansfield Cooper G.21.
